Dr Rhett Bosnich has been performing body hair transplant surgery for the last 8 years. He is a member of the ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) and is one of only three Australian doctors to be a member of the ABHRS (American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery), after having met all the rigorous clinical and examination requirements. He established Newin Institute over 2 years ago and has some of the most experienced hair transplant technicians in Australia working with him. He regularly attends International workshops and conferences to keep abreast of the new developments in the hair transplant field.
Over the past four years Dr Bosnich has performed BHT (Body Hair Transplants), where he will use the FUE (Follicular Extraction technique) to remove chest, abdominal, back and beard hair for transplantation on to the scalp. BHT is a highly refined and precise technique, which can be performed manually or with an automated device. It is possible to extract from 500-1000 body hairs in a day.
At Newin Institute, Dr Rhett Bosnich tends to use BHT for infilling areas on the scalp when there is little of no scalp hair left to use. He will also occasionally use it to transplant into scars. Whilst BHT isn’t the most common form of hair transplant performed at Newin Institute, Dr Bosnich believes this technique and having the skills to perform it, as there are some patients who have no other options left.
At Newin Institute, Dr Rhett Bosnich consults with all the patients himself to determine their suitability for any form of hair transplant surgery. However, it is particularly important that he spend a great deal of time with a patient to explain the process and possibility of BHT.
